Prof.
Pang’s (彭泓基教授) introduction course for I
Ching named “I Ching and the Wisdom of Life” (易經與人生智慧)
Lecture 3 was held on 15th Apr 2023. The course has four lectures. I
would like to summarize some key points of Lecture 3 for sharing below. In the beginning,
Prof. Pang reviewed the lecture 2 content and explained the yin and yang (陰陽),
fu (returning) (復卦) and Mutual divination (互卦).
Then
Prof. Pang employed “乾 (qián)”
and Confucius Analects (孔子論語) to explain different life
stages.
And
then he explained Tuan Zhuan (彖傳) and Xiang Zhuan (象傳),
as well as shared his inscription “人能常清靜，天地悉皆歸。” that means “If people can be
quiet constantly, they can achieve union of universe and then return to the
Dao.”
After
that he explained the first hexagram named “乾 (Qian)” and explained different locations
phenomena.
And he
also explained the second hexagram named “坤 (Kun)” in different stages.
Finally,
Prof. Pang employed I Ching for inspiration of life and management including
leadership level. He used the success and fail cycle to explain both life and enterprise
in four situations.
Using “乾
(Qian)”,
it could explain the Qing dynasty life cycle.
Then he
compared different countries under “乾 (Qian)” including China, USA and western.
Lastly,
I brough all Prof. Pang’s book and took a photo for memory.
Prof.
Pang signed his books for us.
I also
gave my book named “Extenics: The logic of Innovation” to Prof. Pang and
introduced Extenics to him.
At the
end, Minda and I took a photo with the inscription for memory.
