HKQF the 7th TIC-ITAC Meeting

The 7^th meeting of Industry Training Advisory Committee for Testing, Inspection & Certification Industry (TIC-ITAC) under Hong Kong Qualification Framework (HKQF) was held on 8 Sep 2016. I was honor to be assigned as one of members in TIC-ITAC again from 1^st Jan 2015 to 31^st Dec 2016.

In the beginning, Mr. Felix Chan (Chairman, HKTIC) chaired the meeting and Ms. Pecvin Yong (Principal Assistant Secretary for Education (Further Education), Education Bureau) gave opening speech. She briefed the Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) which aimed to rebrand vocation education. Then she also briefed the recently survey for degree and associate degree holders performance by employer. The results were satisfactory in both categories.

Then Ms. Ka Wing Fung (Senior Manager, Qualifications Framework Secretariat) reported the last year activities on promotion of TIC. There were some interview and articles in newspaper, and seminars about HKQF and VPET, as well as, career talk. The winners of Award Scheme for Learning Experiences were invited to share their experience to public and some laboratories visits were arranged.

After that TIC-ITAC invited Dr. George Lau, Ms. Fanny Tang and Ms. Kwok to report the process of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) Industry that OUHK was Assessment Agency.

Then they demonstrated the laboratory facilities which were capable for those assessments (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7ZxMHUWxB4). Moreover, the assessment organization structure was also mentioned. The Kickoff Ceremony of RPL Assessment Service was held on 7 Nov 2015 and the Testing and Certification Day was held at the same day. The future promotion plan activities included on-site visit to individual companies, briefing to professional institutions and Trade Associations, as well as, promoting in Testing and Certification Day.
