Advanced Class III for I Ching (易經高班III)–Lecture 5

Prof. Pang’s (彭泓基教授) advanced class III for I Ching (易經高班 III) the 5th lecture was held on 24^th Aug 2024. Minda was absent due to teaching commitments, so I attended the course on my own. The topics of lecture 4 to 6 are related to I Ching and Divination. (易經與術數). In the beginning, Prof. Pang briefed origin of eight characters (八字的起源) from birthday and origin of life (生命的起源) from fetal origin (胎元). 

Then Prof. Pang reviewed Yin-Yang, Five Elements and Directions of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches (天幹地支的陰陽五行與方向).

And then added Acquired Gossip (後天八卦) and four seasons into Earthly Branches.

He also explained the twelve lucks in the process of growing up.

After that Prof. Pang mentioned the conditions of combination and transformation of Heavenly Stems (天干合化). The change depends on Earthly Branches (地支).

The Earthly Branches’ (地支) punishment, conflict, combination, transformation, harm (刑、 冲、  合、 化、 害) were discussed.

Prof. Pang gave us the table notes for reference. 

Previous status could be calculated by using pinch algorithm (合指算法).

The tomb belongs to the end (墓庫代表生命終結) indicating the five elements in weak situation. 

Fortune teller skills were also briefed.

It could also employed pinch algorithm to calculate the years of sexagenary (甲子年).

Finally, Prof. Pang introduced the Ten Gods Table of the Eight Characters for Destiny (八字命理的十神).

The fundamental concepts of Eight Characters for Destiny (八字命理) were reviewed.

For Ten Gods(十神), it was mainly focused on Reputation (名) -> Officer (官); Benefit (利) -> Wealth (財); and Power (權) -> official seal (印).

And then he explained how to use the Eight Characters for Destiny to predict your situation under parent, children, supervisor and wealth. 

Lastly, Prof. Pang explained the Eight Characters for Destiny to be used five elements promoting and constraining mutually (五行相生相剋).

After the class, Prof. Pang and classmates had lunch together. 

In this morning, I met Ms. Carlotta Wong and had breakfast together. She gave a gift to Minda that is reusable and washable drinking straw.
