I Ching Class Christmas Trip to Zhongshan (易經班聖誕中山之旅)

After all advanced class for I Ching (易經高班), Prof. Pang (彭泓基教授) invited us to join Christmas party in his Zhongshan house on 25^th Dec 2023 as well as his talk named “The international situation after the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and prospects for 2024” (以巴衝突後的國際形勢與2024展望) on 26^th Dec 2023. Minda and I took a photo with Prof. Pang during Christmas party for memory.

Day 1 (25^th Dec 2023)

We went to Zhongshan by ferry.

Other classmates were by bus through Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge.

Minda and I arrived early and we had lunch in the Chung Shan Hot Spring Golf Club (中山溫泉高爾夫球會).

Prof. Pang and Ms. Xun (勛醫醫) waited us.

We all arrived and had very nice food ordered by Prof. Pang.

Firstly, we enjoyed the roast pigeon.

And then we took a group photo outside the golf club.

After the lunch, we went to Prof. Pang’s house. I saw the "Mendang" (門當) with Pang that refers to a pair of stone drums in front of the mansion. 

And then we visited Pang’s Basement that stored many instruments, books and kung fu related tools.

Prof. Pang demonstrated throwing knife (小彭飛刀). And I like the words “劍膽琴心” indicating that a general man like sword don’t affair bully and not proud in his heart even smart.

Minda played drum set.

Keith showed Wing Chun Kuen (詠春拳).

Finally, we had dinner in The Wizard of Oz (綠野仙蹤) and Roast goose is very special.

Then Herny introduced some special foods to us. Prof. Pang’s friend Tony also joined us. (Tony sit in Prof. Pang right hand side)

Newborn egg, Chrysanthemum sashimi (菊花刺身), chicken, etc.

The main activity is Christmas party in Prof. Pang’s house and music performance.

The three music musketeers’ performance was showed in the beginning.

Then we played Karaoke.

Diocesan Boys' School (男拔萃) classmates sang a school song. And then Kinsen and Ms. Xun also sang.

I Ching four golden flower (易經四金花) performed a song very good! We had a very good Christmas night.

We had very happy night!

Day 2 (26^th Dec 2023)

We had lunch in Sheraton Zhongshan Hotel. Prof. Pang planned the day trip including Zhongshan museum (中山市博物館), Property viewing group and talk in the book club.

We walk across the bridge to go to the museum that around 20 min.

We passed the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park (孫中山紀念公園).

Minda and I took a photo in front of the museum.

Elephant fossil was showed.

Many Zhongshan cultures were demonstrated and I like Philosophical debate about “Dao”. 

When we left the museum, we saw the President Xi statement to protect our city historical and cultural heritage.

Minda and I took a photo in front of the big painting on a wall before left.

And then we had a tea outside.

After that we went to the CoCo City (天奕星河).

The representative introduced the environment of the building.

We visited the luxury floor and it can view the whole city.

We took a photo in the large terrace.

And saw the sunset.

The final activity was book club talk by Prof. Pang.

Prof. Pang invited by Mr. Hai (大海) to give this talk.

Firstly, he briefed the key thinking framework of I Ching (Change, Change Rule and Not Change).

Then he reviewed many history cases and many things were happened again because human nature never changes.

He also mentioned the big cycle behind empires’ rise and decline. 

Some key changes after Covid were discussed.

After that Prof. Pang briefed the conflict of history and culture between Israeli and Palestinian.

Finally, he reviewed different wars between USA and China. He said the most difficult war is in finance. 

Tui bei tu (推背圖) is a Chinese prophecy book that was used to predict unification of China and to be world leader.

Lastly, Prof. Pang shared his view on investment. The basic principle is “Don't be greedy”.

Prof. Pang’s student (almost ten years ago) shared her experience on I Ching and she expected Prof. Pang would arrange class of I Ching in Zhongshan in near future.

We took a group photo at the end of the seminar.

When we arrived hotel, we had midnight snack in Eastern Street.

A special food named lamb tripe wrapped in mutton (肚包肉 = 羊肚包羊肉)

We all tried it and it was very good.

The night street is very ordered and had different special foods for selection. It was closed at 11:00pm.

At the end, we brought all foods and enjoyed it in the lobby.

Day 3 (27^th Dec 2023)

Last day in Zhongshan, we had breakfast in the hotel and met Pauline and Rachel.

They joined together to visit Ms. Xun (勛醫醫) Chinese medicine shop.

I saw a lady played guzheng (古箏) in the lobby.

Then Ms. Xun drove classmates and also called a taxi for classmates to go to her shop.

Minda and I went to the Zhongshan Port to go back to HK by ferry. We tried to use Meituan (美團) for food takeout.

When we were waiting the ferry, other classmates had a good lunch with Ms. Xun together.

Minda and I arrived HK and had a very good trip in this Christmas holiday.
