The 9th World Summit of Chinese Quality–Day 2

 The launching ceremony of the 2024 National Quality Association System "Quality Month" Activity and the 9th World Summit of Chinese Quality (2024年全国质协系统“质量月”活动启动仪式和第九届华人品质论坛) was organized by China Association for Quality (CAQ) (中国质量协会) and pre-World Alliance for Chinese Quality (pre-WACQ - 全球华人品质联盟（筹）) on 29^th to 30^th Aug 2024. The theme was “Sustainable Quality Management based on Chinese Culture”「 以中华文化为底蕴的可持续质量管理之道」. Day 2 is parallel session and more industrial case studies. The HKSQ team took a group photo in front of the big banner.

Minda and I selected Room A to attend some interested topics.

Summit Parallel Session:

The A08 speaker was Ms. Tong (汤宝贞) and her topic entitled “Factors related to Digital Lean Operations in small and medium-sized manufacturing industries - taking the metal industry as an example” (中小制造业数字精实营运关系因素-以金属产业为例).

Ms. Tong briefed her research framework and the industry size last than 200 staff. She employed statistics techniques, single factor analysis, internal and external key factors analysis. Finally, she found that those key factors are highly related to business, manufacturing and product quality.

The A09 speakers were Mr. Yang Qiuping (杨秋平) and Mr. Li Yu (李宇). Their presentation topic named “Challenges and Breakthroughs of Excellent Quality Management Model in Chinese Private Enterprises” (卓越质量管理模式在中国民营企业的挑战和突围). Mr. Yang used automotive components company as example for quality audit analysis. 

They proposed the five dimensions quality management (5DQM) for industry breakthrough. Top management can 100% handle five dimensions including characteristics, tools, system, culture and excellence business. 

Finally, Mr. Yang explained how 5DQM integration and suggested to be enough participating time, right behavior and establishing excellence value. Top management should unity of knowledge and action (知行合一).

The A11 speaker was Mr. Wu Zhaoping (吴照平) and his topic named “Explore the Digital Transformation Model of Handicrafts” (工艺数字化转型模式探索). Firstly, he briefed the background of digital transformation.

Then Mr. Wu identified five pain points of handicrafts digitalization such as nontransparent, data collection, monitoring key process, traceability and paper SOP. 

Lastly, Mr. Wu quoted GB/T 40647-2021 and proposed five high value scenarios to enhance handicrafts including digital design, digit twin, collaboration, intelligent optimization and online traceability.

During the break, HKSQ team enjoyed a flower tea.

After tea break, I joined Room B for our ASQ friend’s talk Mr. Richard YC Feng. Mr. Feng (ASQ fellow) was B25 speaker and his topic entitled “Quality of the Future: Experience Quality” (未來質量: “體驗質量”). Firstly, Mr. Richard Feng questioned the definition of quality should be redefined.

And then he proposed the shift from product quality (Objective quality) to experience quality (Subjective quality). Mr. Feng also quoted ISO 9241-11:2018 for the definition of user experience. 

After that Mr. Richard Feng briefed the product design path based on scenario and user-centric.  

Finally, he proposed to employ Quality of Experience (QoE) for evaluation as quality indicators. He concluded that the end of the material age and the arrival of the emotional age. Thus, Quality definition on manufacturing would be considered three key elements and they were user thinking, experience first, Integration of soft and hard networks. Lastly, Mr. Feng said the coming ISO 9000 would add customer experience in front of customer satisfaction.

The A36 speaker was Ms. Ji Wei (纪玮) and her presentation title was “Quality Professional Innovation and Exploration – Upgrading of Localized User Experience Model based on New Products” (质量专业化创新与探索-以新品为切入的当地化用户体验模式升级). Firstly, she demonstrated her new product introduction model. 

The second method she employed was user experience mode and the third method was 10 steps for reliability. Lastly, she reported the significant improvement of new product.

The A38 speaker was Mr. Geng Peng (耿鹏) and his topic named “Research on Sustainable Quality Management with Chinese Characteristics driven by Craftsman Innovation” (工匠创新推动的华人特色可持续质量管理研究). In the beginning, Mr. Geng briefed the background of this research and stated his research methodology. 

After that he briefed how to employ technologies (e.g. AR/VR, 3D printing, etc) for craftsman skill transferred digitally. Finally, Mr. Geng Peng reported the evaluation by customer upto 92.5% satisfaction.

The A40 speaker was Mr. Guo Bin (郭彬) and his topic was “Essential Qualities and Abilities of Excellent Quality Personnel” (优秀质量人员的必备素质和能力). Firstly, he mentioned how to define excellent quality personnel and then introduced pre-request requirements and quality competence model.  

Finally, he introduced 5C model that is Credit in the center and covered Care, Competence, Character and Commitment. 

The last speaker (C53) I attended was Mr. Wan Zhanqiang (万展强) (CAQ) and his presentation topic entitled “Applied Research on Production On-site Data Elements under the Background of New Industrialization” (新型工业化背景下生产现场数据要素的应用研究). 

And then Mr. Wan briefed the On-site data elements’ characteristics and those data included both structure and non-structure. 

After that he mentioned the base of dataset establishment including relation diagram, multi-dimension model, on-site labeling, algorithm, etc. 

Lastly, Mr. Wan Zhanqiang suggested manufacturing industries to establish digital strategy, nutrient digital awareness, starting the data governance and building the data platform.

During Q&A session, participants also asked many questions and we also discussed Huawei experience about data pools and fundamental infrastructure.

After finished parallel session, Dr. Jane Wong and I took a photo with CAQ session chair Mr. Yu Haibo (于海波).

Summit Closing Ceremony:

Before ceremony, I took a photo with Dr. Lin Chang (林暢) (MQMA).

As the two-day summit to be closed, CAQ had prepared a summary video for everyone to review.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Mr. Hou Jinfeng (侯进锋).

Ms. Wang Lin (王琳) gave the closing remark.

Finally, Dr. Lin Chang (林暢) (MQMA) introduced Macau to be the next summit location. 

Then he showed a video.

Flag changing ceremony, Ms. Wang Lin (CAQ) transferred the WACQ flag to Dr. Lin Chang (MQMA).

After the summit, Minda and I joined the special dinner and waited in the hotel lobby.

The restaurant named “Suihe”.

A large table served us all (23 people). The largest table can accommodate 40 people at the same time!

After the dinner, we all joined the show in “Opera House” (梨園).

We appreciated the VIP row arranged by the CAQ to enjoy the show and drink tea.

Changing faces!

We all enjoyed the dinner and the show. Since Minda and I will return to Hong Kong early, we will not participate in tomorrow's cultural visit. Angela and Jane will go to see Panda (熊貓) and Sanxingdui (三星堆) tomorrow.
