The webinar named “GenAI in Learning and Teaching:
What You Need to Know” was organized by Educational Development Centre (EDC),
PolyU on 26th Aug 2024. Mr. KP Mark and Mr. Dick Chan shared their
view during the webinar.
Firstly, Mr. KP Mark explained how generative AI (GenAI)
work through prompt to GenAI model and then got the result.
Then Mr. Dick Chan discussed its academic integrity. PolyU
had full statement of University Stance on the use of GenAI and guidelines for
students.
Mr. Mark also mentioned the AI in Education Map. And
he said PolyU also use of GenAI tools.
After that Mr. Mark showed the Gartner HypeCycle for
AI 2024 & 2023 for comparison that Prompt Engineering grew rapidly, while
GenAI began to decline. He also introduced the emerging trends that safe AI in
Education including safeguard data privacy, align with teaching strategy, minimize
the risk of incorrect information, etc.
Finally, they discussed the expected use of GenAI in
assessment to students.
During the Q&A session, I asked about any
generative drawing services like Dall-E so that students can use their
creativity to generate product prototypes and visualize them using diagrams.
