The 17th Extenics Annual Meeting (全国第17届可拓学年会) – Day 2: AI Frontier Forum (人工智能前沿论坛)

The 17th Extenics Annual Meeting、Artificial Intelligence Frontier Forum and Extension Innovation Method Traning Course ("全国第17 届可拓学年会"、"人工智能前沿论坛"暨"可拓创新方法培训班") were organized by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) (中国人工智能学会) and Extenics Professional Committee of CAAI (中国人工智能学会可拓学专业委员会) from 12th to 15th Aug 2021. The first day is mainly for keynotes reporting and second day for AI frontier forum in the morning and sharing session in the afternoon, as well as, closing at the end. 

Day 2 on 15^th Aug 2021: AI Frontier Forum (人工智能前沿论坛) 

The first speaker was Prof. Han Liqun (韩力群教授) and her presentation title was “China's AI Development Situation and Ttalent Training (中国AI 发展形势与人材培养)”.  In the beginning, Prof. Han briefed the AI development situation in China and the world. Then intelliegent industry characteristics were discussed. 

The analysis of AI development in China and other countries were demonstrated using radar diagram. Overall, USA is still number one and China is second.

After that Prof. Han briefed the characteristics of intelligent industry in four dimensions and they were AI technique generalization, knowledge industrialization, product intelligentization and man-machine collaboration.

The second speaker was Prof. Sun Fuchun (孙富春教授) and his topic entitled “Research and development of intelligent medical robots (智能医疗机器人的研究与发展)”.  Firstly, Prof. Sun introduced the intelligent medical robot that is a robot used for medical treatment or assistant for patient.

Then Prof. Sun analyzed the development of medical robot including the flexibility of operation, proactive sensing, operation safety and intelligent decision making. 

Finally, he demonstrated the sampling for Covid-19 test robot to us. 

The third speaker was Prof. Li Weijun (李卫军研究员) and his presentation named “3D Active Vision Technology (3D主动视觉技术)”. He said human received information that 83% from vision, 11% from sound and 3.5% from smell, etc. 

After that Prof. Li briefed the development history from 2D vision to 3D vision.

Lastly, Prof. Li introduced their 3D active vision technology that the processor should feedback to the 3D image sensor to focus the interested vision information.

The fourth speaker was Prof. Bai Xiao (百晓教授) and his presentation title was “Research and Progress of Visual Navigation (视觉导航研究及进展)”. Prof. Bai introduced his laboratory in the beginning. 

And then he mentioned the dual eye distance detection using deep learning.

Prof. Bai demonstrated their vision hardware platform at the end.

The fifth speaker was Prof. Ban Xiaojuan (班晓娟教授) and her topic entitled “Image processing and analysis for information extraction of material microstructure (面向材料显微组织信息抽取的图像处理与分析)”. 

Firstly, Prof. Ban briefed the background of material structure image collection through microscope. Those image needed three types of technique and they were image understanding, image analysis and image manipulation.

Prof. Ban reported their results for image processing employed deep learning that reduction of process time from 150 min to 1 min!.

The sixth speaker was Prof. Peng Yan (彭岩教授) and her presentation topic was “Big Data Mining and Value Discovery (大数据挖掘与价值发现)”.  In the beginning, she briefed the big data era and its phenomena.

After that Prof. Peng introduced some critical technology in big data such as mining, process, storage, analysis and visualization. 

At the end, Prof. Peng mentioned their key work on big data including scientific research, application and social value.

The last speaker was Prof. Xu Mingliang (徐明亮教授) and his presentation title named “Industrial intelligent quality inspection and laboratory machine tool scientific device (工业智能质检及实验床科学装置)”.

Prof. Xu briefed the industry intelligent inspection technology and its system.

Lastly, Prof. Xu introduced his overview on the development of scientific device using different technology such as failure sample collection, failure quantitative analysis, material and functional relationship analysis, big data analysis, man-machine collaboration, machine learning of industry inspection, supercomputer, etc.
