Material Tech visit PolyU Industrial Centre for COMP Students’ Capstone Project

 I am very grateful to Mr. Felix Chan (Managing Director, Material Tech) and Mr. Herman Tang (Assistant General Manager) for their support to COMP Students’ Capstone Project. In order to provide technical support for this project, I invited Dr. SC Ho to arrange a visit to PolyU Industrial Center for them to learn about new construction technology.

Firstly, we saw construction 3D printing in large scale.

Some samples were demonstrated.

They then demonstrated the use of a robotic arm to move bricks.

The program was written by undergraduate students.

After that we observed another 3D printing machine for smaller scale products.

They employed different construction material for different features with different applications.

Finally, we visited AI Robotic (AIR) laboratory to observe the application of robotic arms.

Engineer explained the programme for different applications.

Another robotic arm installed camera for monitoring.

After morning visit, we had lunch together.

When we left, we met Dr. Cheung Ching-ching (Associate Director, IC) and his team members. We took a group photo for memory.
