The Meeting of International Academy for Extenics (IAE) Development Plan

The meeting of International Academy for Extenics (國際可拓學研究院) was held in the Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd. (廣州可拓學信息科技有限公司) on 15^th Jun 2019.  Dr. Aaron Tong (Former Chairman, HKSQ and Managing Director, TQM Consultants Ltd.) and I (Chairman, HKSQ) represented Extenics scholar in Hong Kong to discuss the development plan with Ms. Liu Hui (劉惠) (Chairlady, Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd.) and Prof. Guo Chaoyun (郭超雲) (Visiting Professor, 北京理工大學珠海學院中國管理科學研究院).

Firstly, Prof. Guo introduced five Extenics related organizations.  Three of them are in the government system and they are Extenics Society, Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) (中國人工智能學會可拓學專業委員會委員), Research Institute of Extenics and Innovation Methods, GDUT (廣東工業大學可拓學與創新方法研究所) and Academic Committee of Extenics, GDUT (可拓學學術委員會委員).  The other two are outside the government system and they are Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd. (廣州可拓學信息科技有限公司) and International Academy for Extenics (國際可拓學研究院).

Prof. Guo pointed out the directions were focused on application and commercialization.  Extenics people are in one team with different brands and locations such as Zhuhai, Macau and Hong Kong, etc.

Dr. Aaron Tong recognized Extenics theoretical value that were aligned with Value Engineering.  However the marketing strategy had a big gap with industries.  He pointed out the most important item was successful case in big/famous company. He summarized enterprise’s concern in three points:

i)                    Developing innovation methodology is not enterprises business.

ii)                  They always find the existing success methodology to use such as TRIZ, Six Sigma, etc.

iii)                They never work as a lab rat (做白老鼠).  (It is from zero to one!)

Then Dr. Aaron Tong said a good enterprise should be integrity and innovation (守正出奇). So he suggested that we need to do it back to the basic (守正), indicating to develop good and solid successful examples (案例) for enterprise use.

Prof. Guo proposed to use Zhuhai government resource through International Academy for Extenics under the frame of Greater Bay Area (GBA).  So they could promote both Extenics theory and Application case study. He quoted Prof. Cai Wen suggestion for integrating Extenics into TRIZ.  Prof. Guo suggested to use Combination boxing (組合拳) to promote Extenics.

I had proposed to identify the positioning and roles of International Academy for Extenics (國際可拓學研究院) and Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd. (廣州可拓學信息科技有限公司).

Finally, Dr. Aaron Tong supported that International Academy for Extenics could be located in his company in Hong Kong as contact point with different Extenics people.
