(中國人工智能學會) Extension Innovation Special Training Camp (可拓創新特訓營) was organized by Chinese Association for
Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) (中國人工智能學會), undertook by CAAI
Extenics Professional Committee (中國人工智能學會可拓學專業委員會), Guangzhou Extenics
Information Technology Co., Ltd. (廣州可拓學信息科技有限公司) and珠海嘉博教育文化有限公司 from 11th to
12th May 2019 in Guangzhou. Minda
and I was invited by Ms. Guo Jiayong (郭嘉詠) (Director & Head of
International Department, Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd.)
to participate this special training camp.

In the
beginning of Day 1 camp, Prof. Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) chaired the first session and
introduced guest experts and invited Prof. Cai Wen to give us a special report.
Prof. Cai
Wen (蔡文) was
keynote speaker and his topic named “Progress in the Promotion of Extenics Research
and Application” (可拓學研究與應用推廣進展). Prof.
Cai said “Extenics is to study the possibility of matters’ extension and rules and
methods of innovation with formalized models.”
Then he
explained the Extenics mainly to solve contradiction problem which separated
into incompatible problems and antithetical problems. All participants were focused on Prof. Cai Wen
explanation and examples. He also said innovation came from solving the
contradiction problems.
And then he briefed the basic elements (i.e. Matter element, Affair element and Relation element).
After
that Prof. Cai briefed the application of Extenics included in fields of
Management, Engineering, Training, Machine, Construction and Robotics, as well
as, AI etc.
In 2004,
Extenics was evaluated by fellows of China Academy of Sciences and Chinese
Academy of Engineering that Extenics is original developed by Chinese scholar
and it is a new and horizontal discipline covered philosophy, mathematics and
engineering.
Finally,
Prof. Cai briefed recently promotion activities for internationalization and
socialization of Extenics included in Hong Kong and Macao activities. Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) provided
a promotion platform to the whole quality associations in the world. At the end, he summarized that this topic was
selected in 1976 and his first paper published on 1983. The Extenics included
Extension Theory, Extension Innovation Method and Extension Engineering.
The
second speaker was Prof. Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) and her topic entitled “Extension
Innovation Four Steps Method” (可拓創新四步法). Firstly, Prof. Yang briefed
the new requirement for people under digital live era. Many industries under challenge were not from
the competitor but from others. ( <三體>小說: 我消滅你, 與你無關.) Method is key for living in digital era.
Then
Prof. Yang introduced Extension Innovation Four Steps Method. We needed to identify the project first
before use four step. We needed to find
out the goal and condition. And then we
established Extension Model using basic elements. “Extension Analysis” employed to create many
new ideas and “Transformation” those ideas into possible solutions. Last step
was “Selection” to choice the best solution.
After
that Prof. Yang used six toothpicks to create four triangles as exercise and
then she explained how to use Extension analysis to generate different ideas
for solving the problem.
The last
step was “Selection” and its principles included “Purpose”, “Holistic”, “Practicable”
and “Stability”. The selection
measurement indicators could be creativity, innovative, beauty, technology,
etc.
At the
end, Prof. Yang use a picture to summarize the Extension Innovation Four Steps
Method.
During
lunch time, Ms. He Rongrong (何昕容) (Assistant of President, Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology
Co., Ltd.) led us to go to Sun Yat-sen University (中山大學) canteen.

It is
very good and we could select different types of food for sharing.
After lunch,
I visited the office of Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd. and
took a photo with Ms. He Rongrong (何昕容) and Ms. Peng Lishi (彭麗詩).

(Chairlady, Guangzhou Extenics Information Technology Co., Ltd.) chaired the
afternoon session and introduced the speaker Prof. Xingsen Li (李興森).
Prof.
Xingsen Li (李興森) was the third speaker and his presentation was “Extension Thinking and
Training to deal with Complex Problems” (處理複雜問題的可拓思維及訓練). Firstly, Prof. Li explained
why problem become complicated because of internet, IoT, Big Data and AI. So
the change was fast, dynamic and uncertain.
Then
Prof. Li quoted many ancient smart cases to explain creative thinking by inspiration
(靈感) was
randomly, suddenly and was not predictable.
The key of creative thinking to get inspiration systematically should be
through “Method”.
And then
Prof. Li summarized all innovation methods in the world and introduced “Extenics”
which was Chinese original innovation method.
After
that Prof. Li introduced Conjugation Analysis through four dimensions and they
were Physical, Systematic, Dynamic and Antithetic.
Finally,
Prof. Li mentioned three innovation application were to change the basic
element, criteria and/or Universe of Discourse.
The last
session was case study and participants discussion. Prof. Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) led this part.
Then Prof.
Xingsen Li (李興森) briefed the exercises that would be discussed during tomorrow camp in Whampoa
Military Academy (黃埔軍校).
He also reviewed the overall Extension Innovation Method using one slide.
At the
end, Dr. Tang Long (湯龍) briefed some background of Whampoa Military Academy (黃埔軍校) and raise three relevant
exercises for your preparation.
After
one day training, our team had seafood dinner near the hotel. We thanked Naida’s dinner and her
hospitality.
