The 3rd
World Summit for Chinese Quality (WSCQ) was organized by Pre-World Alliance for
Chinese Quality (WACQ) (全球華人品質聯盟(籌)),
co-organized by Singapore Quality Institute (SQI) at NTU@one-north campus, Executive
Centre on 8 & 9 Nov 2018. The founding members of
Pre-World Alliance for Chinese included China Association for Quality (CAQ), Chinese
Society for Quality (CSQ), Hong Kong Society for Quality (HKSQ) and Singapore
Quality Institute (SQI). This Alliance
was established after the 3rd Chinese Quality Forum (CQF) in Beijing
in 2015. In Day 2, we visited
Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) (AAIS) and Rolls-Royce factory
in Seletar Aerospace Park. Minda and I
arrived the visit site.
Looking outside, many private small aeroplanes were observed.
Mr.
Jimson Ngiam (Director, Quality (Aerospace), Thales Solutions Asia Pte Ltd)
gave introduction of Association
of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) (AAIS) to us.
AAIS had
130 members from aerospace companies and supporting industry including Maintenance,
Repair and Operation (MRO), R&D, Training and education (e.g. NTU), etc.
They
duties included voice of industry, facilitate business and engender community.
Then Mr.
Ngiam introduced AAIS Digitalization Programme from Awareness to Benchmarking
to Consultation & Development and then Execution.
During
Q&A session, I asked how to reduce resistant if IT system change for
airport. He said change management was very
important especially on people’s mindset change. We needed to give roadmap and risk
assessment.
Mr. GE
Tan (陳敬賢)
(Chairman, SQI) and Ms. Wang Lilin (王麗林) (Deputy Secretary General, CAQ))
represented WACQ to present souvenir to Mr. Jimson Ngiam.
Then we
took a group photo for memory.
Dr. Aaron Tong and I introduced HKSQ to Mr. Ngiam.
Prof. Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) and Prof. Xingsen Li (李興森) introduced “Extenics” to Mr. Ngiam.
They
took a photo with Mr. Ngiam.
Hong
Kong team took a group photo with Mr. Ngiam together.
Then we
went to the exhibition room to see demonstration of aerospace industries
operations.
After
that we went into the bus and go to engine assembly center.
We arrived
the Rolls-Royce Seletar Campus.
The
whole team took a group photo in front of the Fan Blade. (Remark: all photos
were taken by Rolls-Royce staff. Mobile and camera did not allow to use in the
campus.)
Mr.
Jeffrey Ho (Quality Audit Manager, CHQ Global Quality, Rolls-Royce Singapore Pte Ltd.) gave an introduction
to us. He joined Rolls-Royce since 2010
and Rolls-Royce had 50,000 employees.
They had three operating business included Civil Aviation, Defense and
Power System. Rolls-Royce had five global hubs such as UK/Euro, US, India,
China and Singapore.
Then Mr.
Jeffrey Ho showed the introduction video to us.
Finally,
he mention their future development in the three ways involved Electrification,
Digitalization and Growing demand for Cleaner, Safe and more Competitive Power. Gas turbine assembly was employed in the Seletar Assembly and Test
Unit. Moreover, their manufacturing
execution system was paperless.
Before
left, I presented HKSQ annual book to Mr. Jeffrey Ho.
Prof.
Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) also
presented Extenics information to him.
After the
technical visit, the 3rd World Summit for Chinese Quality (WSCQ) was
completed successfully. Then we visit
SQI office and lunch here. Hong Kong
team arrived SQI address and took a group photos.
We also

In the beginning, Mr. GE Tan (陳敬賢) welcome us to arrive SQI
office.
Mr.
Johnson Tan (陳川昌) briefed the history of SQI which established since 1971 (>47
years).
We
appreciated SQI arranging buffet lunch.
SQI
provided many ASQ certification training courses.
After the lunch, we had the WACQ meeting to discuss the 4th World Summit for Chinese Quality (WSCQ) in Beijing and it was also CAQ 40 year’s anniversary. CAQ planned to publish a book about TQM. HKSQ and Macau Quality Management Association (MQMA) would provide TQM development and industries cases for this publication use.

We went to buy some grift in Singapore after the meeting. Minda and I walked near the Parliament.
We
brought some local famous medical oil.
CAQ
invited us to have dinner together and we had a very happy visit and dinner
today.
When we
walked back to hotel, we saw the laser show.
