The
Book named “Flashes of Thought – Inspired by a dialogue
at the Government Summit 2013” by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Vice-President and Prime Minister
of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai) and was published by Motivate
Publishing in 2013. The purpose of this collection of experiences, ideas and thoughts in
the Government Summit in the UAE in Feb 2013 is simply to serve society and
bring happiness to people. The
book was gift and given by Dubai professionals during ANQ Congress. I would like to record down some valuable
statements of the book for reference.
l The government’s job is to achieve happiness for people.
l The government of the future is open for service 24/7, all year
around.
l Does running water stop when it reaches a rock? Of course not. It
turns either left or right, and continues its way. Likewise, a positive person is confident that
no challenge will stand in the way of achieving his or her goal.
l We may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our
creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone.
l To be creative is to add something new to life as opposed to being a
passive part of it.
l If you accustom yourselves to creativity in small things, creativity
on a larger scale will follow.
l The future is for those who dare to dream and find the courage to
pursue their dreams.
l Life was created simple and it is important to live it as such.
l The word ‘impossible’ is nowhere in the vocabulary of the UAE.
l I have said it loud and clear: Beware, men, lest women deprive you
of all the leadership positions in the country.
l Every leader should have a passion in life that adds depth, uniqueness
and style to his leadership.
l The eye and heart of poet are different from those of others.
l Training opens your eyes to your weaknesses, boosts your
self-confidence and brings you a step closer to victory.
l Knowledge is the shortest path to victory, even in sports. Knowledge
is more important than capability.
l Manage your time know your priorities, enjoy life and leave your
mark.
l Time is like a flowing river: you cannot step in the same water
twice.
l We should get accustomed to not getting accustomed.
l Nothing is more valuable than a human life.
l To take risk and fail is not a failure. Real failure is to fear taking any risk.
l Every challenge is an opportunity for learning, a chance to test our
capabilities and knowledge.
l Impossible is a word used by some people who fear to dream big.
l The impossible cannot be where there is perseverance and faith. There is no impossible in life.
l Creativity and ideas can build countries and institutions. The future belongs to those who generate
ideas.
l An exaggerated fear of mistakes stands in the way of creativity.
l First, act like a leader, for true leadership is not in one’s
position, but in one’s way of thinking and acting: it is in the nobility of one’s
objectives and goals.
l A great leader creates more great leaders, and does not reduce the
institution to a single person.
l The future starts today, not tomorrow.
l Leadership is a combination of intelligence, resourcefulness,
wisdom, a strong personality and aspiration to the greatest of things.
l Only good people treat horses with kindness and only great spirits
seek and practice horse riding.
l If time is life, then health gives meaning to our time and adds
spice to life.
