HKSTP Sensor Lab Soft Launch

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) launched Sensor Hub in Hong Kong Science Park on 6th Sep 2017.  It opened the Park for testing latest sensor technologies to expedite the research and development of related innovative products and solutions.  Today, our Sensor Lab was soft launch.  In a sensor development cycle, pilot back-end production and testing are critical as many trials and design processes are involved before moving on to final production.  The establishment of Sensor Lab provided hardware and software for such pilot run so as to support startups and SMEs.  I took a photo in front of the Sensor Lab.

The Objectives of Sensor Lab are to enable local and overseas technology enterprises, R&D centres and universities to:
-          Discover their magic formula in fabrication and packaging when making new sensor components, products and devices; and
-          Conduct pilot run on new sensor prototypes to integrated sensor products for partners and public sectors.
It also aims to breed more pilot trial projects for innovative sensor development.
There were two areas of cleanroom upto the class 100.  One is behind me in the diagram below and the other is in Yellow Room.

After the shower door, some monitoring system set here.  The yellow color screen showed the operation in yellow room.

The lab included a shared 3,000 sq ft cleanroom (class 1000) that would be supported by HKSTP’s partners on technical and consultation services.  Whole cleanroom was showed and the glass window was connected to the IC Failure Analysis Laboratory (ICFAL).

The sensor lab process was demonstrated from Deposition, to  Lithography, to Wet Processes and then to Packaging and Characterization.
