HKSTP Sensor Lab Soft Launch

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) launched Sensor Hub in Hong Kong Science Park on 6th Sep 2017.  It opened the Park for testing latest sensor technologies to expedite the research and development of related innovative products and solutions.  Today, our Sensor Lab was soft launch.  In a sensor development cycle, pilot back-end production and testing are critical as many trials and design processes are involved before moving on to final production.  The establishment of Sensor Lab provided hardware and software for such pilot run so as to support startups and SMEs.  I took a photo in front of the Sensor Lab.

The Objectives of Sensor Lab are to enable local and overseas technology enterprises, R&D centres and universities to:
-          Discover their magic formula in fabrication and packaging when making new sensor components, products and devices; and
-          Conduct pilot run on new sensor prototypes to integrated sensor products for partners and public sectors.
It also aims to breed more pilot trial projects for innovative sensor development.
There were two areas of cleanroom upto the class 100.  One is behind me in the diagram below and the other is in Yellow Room.

Lunch with City Polytechnic of Hong Kong Cohorts

We had studied in City Polytechnic of Hong Kong (CPHK) for HD in Applied Science in the Department of Applied Science (AP) since 1989. The Department of Applied Science was established in 1987 with four science disciplines namely Applied Biology, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics and Materials Science. It is a good memory time for lunch in CityU Chinese Restaurant after 25 years again (graduated at 1992).

(Left: Tsz On, I, Roger, Connie and Felix)

Then the Department of Applied Science (AP) was separated into Department of Biology and Chemistry (BCH) and Department of Physics and Materials Science (AP) in 1993. And I graduated of BSc in Applied Physics in 1994 (AP) that City Polytechnic of Hong Kong (CPHK) had upgraded to City University of Hong Kong (CityU). And then I graduated of MPhil in Atmospheric Chemistry in 1997 (BCH).  Recently, BCH Dept. changed name to Department of Chemistry (CHEM) in 2017.  Department of Physics and Materials Science had already separated into Physics Dept. (PHY), and Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Dept.

The last gathering was on 26 July 2011. Seven years ago!  Time is flying.
