I was honor to
be invited by Dr. KS Chin (Asso. Professor, SEEM, CityU) to give a talk named “Quality
Innovation & Extenics” to students of Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) in
Total Quality Engineering (BETQE) on 3 April 2017. Before the lecture, I took a
photo with Dr. KS Chin.
Then I
introduced the scope of Quality Innovation and some definition of Innovation in
different standards.
After that I
briefed the history development of quality and innovation tools included
Brainstorming, Creatology, Six Thinking Hats, Thinkertoys, Design Thinking,
TRIZ and USIT, as well as Extenics.
I mentioned how
I met Prof. Cai Wen and learnt his original developed innovation theory named “Extenics”
which included Extension Theory, Extension Method and Extension Engineer. Prof. Cai Wen selected this topic since 1976
and then used 7 years to develop the basic-element and Extenics Set in which
created a new China original science subject.
Extenics is
across Mathematics, Engineering and Philosophy.
It also is the bridge between Natural Science and Social Science.
After that I introduced the Extenics Set which could describe the dynamic classification under transformation.
I also briefed
the Basic-element, Extension Innovation Method (four steps) and finally
mentioned the summary on extension innovation table.
At the end, we
took a group photo with students for memory.
