CityU Mobile Technology Festival 2015

The “Mobile Technology Festival 2015” would be held during 12-21 January 2015 at the City University of Hong Kong. Presented by CityU Apps Lab, it is the first ever university-wide festival specifically on mobile technology, aiming at introducing how mobile technology affects our lives, and to showcase students’ innovative works making use of latest technologies. HKSTP was one of supporting organization and I attended the Grand Opening on 13 January 2015.

In the beginning, Mr. Herman Hu Shao-ming (BBS, JP, Deputy to the 12th National People’s Congress of PRC, Council Chairman of CityU) gave an opening speech. He encouraged our students to explore their ability on mobile technology.


Ms. Joey Lam (Deputy Government Chief Information Officer (Policy & Community) of HKSAR Government) gave a guest speech. She recognized CityU’s effort in using Information Technology especially on mobile apps.


The Hon Charles Mok (JP, Legislative Councilor representing the Information Technology) was next guest and he mentioned the important of mobile technology and encouraged students to seek their career in IT field.


The last guest was The Hon Michael Tien Puk-sun (BBS, JP, Legislative Councilor, HK Deputy to the National People’s Congress of PRC, and Deputy Chairman of New People’s Party) and he told story about his business and how it employed apps for enhancing efficiency. He also said only one talent, one month and some capitals were able to provide one useful apps for his company use. Mobile Apps is very powerful.


The opening ceremony was performed.


Robot-Controlling App was demonstrated to Mr. Michael Tien how to control the motion of humanoid robot using iPhone.



VR Room Escape was demonstrated to Ms. Joey Lam and it showed the virtual reality on Smartphone for escaping game in library.



Finally, Dr. Ray Cheung (Director, CityU Apps Lab (CAL)) gave a closing remark.


All student awardees, guests and staffs took a group photo at the end.
