The Extension Innovation Method training course for Trainer Level 1 (可拓創新培訓師培訓班一級) was organized by Extenics Company (可拓學公司) in Guangzhou from 24 to 26 Mar 2017. Minda and I had joined the training. Before the training, we took a group photo for memory.

Day 1 (24 Mar 2017) (Friday)
In the beginning, Prof. Yang Chunyan (楊春燕) gave a welcome speech to us and wised the level 1 train the trainer course success.
Then Dr. Sun Yongwei (孫永偉), who was the first MATRIZ Level 4 expert, was invited to give us an introduction on his experience. He said he would like to understand the Extenics background and theory apart from TRIZ.
Mr. Yin Hanfan (鄞漢藩) (Secretary-General, Shenzhen Intellectual Property Society) introduced his work in Shenzhen and expected some of our idea would be patented after the extenics course.
I was also invited to give short speech to introduce the work in Hong Kong included seminar in universities and professional bodies.
Then I also introduced the coming seminar named “Extenics – Education & Application” in CityU on 28 April 2017.
During the short break, I took a photo with Mr. Wong (黃超生) (GM, Extenics Company) in front of the company and the room number was A007.
Minda and I also took a photo for memory.
Starting the training, Prof. Cai Wen (Father of Extenics) briefed the history and background of the Extenics since 1976. He started to study the law, theory and method for dealing with incompatible problems. He said he read many many different book to find the solution but still not fit the purpose.
After 7 years, he published the paper named "Extension Set and Incompatible Problem" in 1983. It marked the birth of new science Extenics (originally called Matter-element Analysis) in China. Extenics is using formal model to research the extension possibility of things, the rules and methods of innovation, and applying all of them to solve contradictory problems. The Extenics included three parts and they were Extension Theory, Extension Method and Extension Engineering.
And then Prof. Cai Wen introduced the Extension Theory in which included Basic-element Theory, Extension Set Theory and Extension Logic. Basic-element (基元) included three key elements (三要素) and they were Object, Characteristic and Value. Moreover, Basic-element constituted by Matter-element (物元) , Affair-element (事元) and Relation-element (關係元).
Then we separated into two teams and do many exercise to understand how to employ basic-element to explain different objects including matter, affair (action/function) and relation.
Mr. Yin Hanfan (鄞漢藩) was our teaching assistant and adviser.
Then Prof. Cai Wen asked us to use six tooth sticks to form 4 triangles and then as many as you can. Minda firstly thought to form 4 triangles in 3D.
Other participants could form more triangles.
At the end, Prof. Cai Wen briefed the Extensible Analysis through Divergence (發散樹) and we did some exercise for practicing.
After that day 1 training, Prof. Cai Wen and Mr. Yin Hanfan stayed in the office for coaching if need. I went to discuss with them about the future promotion and development of Extenics.
Day 2 (25 Mar 2017) (Saturday)
Prof. Cai Wen continued the Extensible Analysis about using the principle of Divergence (發散樹) for matter-element, affair-element and relation-element.
We continued the exercise and discussion.
The following diagram demonstrated all combination of divergence tree.
The Extensible Analysis included Divergence (發散樹), Correlative (相關網), Implication (蘊含系) and Opening-up (分合鏈).
And then we tried to do some transformation based on the analysis. Mr. Qu Jiabin (曲家彬) tried to use same characteristic and value to extend different objects.
The five basic transformation methods were discussed and the table was used for exercise before and after transformation.
Prof. Cai Wen then explained four Basic Operation of Extension Transformation included PRODUCT, AND, OR & INVERSE.
Finally, Prof. Cai Wen explained different transformation types and the last two types would be in Level 2 training course.
Tonight, we had homework based on this table to create new product.
Day 3 (26 Mar 2017) (Sunday)
In the beginning, Prof. Cai Wen explained the Extenics Innovation Method in four steps (可拓創新四步法) and using a “Cup” as an example to demonstrate from Model (建模) to Extension (拓展) to Transformation (變換) and then to Selection (選擇).
Firstly, we needed to establish the model and separated in different parts for transformation that demonstrated in the following table.
Minda selected slippers and extended to warming slippers.
I selected a stick and extended to multi-function walking stick.
Ms. Luk (陸碧虹) selected project about tree sharp book cabinet.
Mr. Wong (黃正奇) project was developing multi-function sport shoes
Dr. Yeung (楊小輝) would like to develop easy use car cover.
Mr. Qu (曲家彬) chose mobile as his project for guiding use.
Mr. Qu’s son (曲鵬) chose cigarette box with lighter.
Mr. Wong (黃超生) would like to find a substitution for cigarette.
Ms. Li (李劍明) selected the lighting pen for children.
Finally, Prof. Cai Wen summarized three days training and mentioned the Superiority Evaluation Method which would be used computer to calculate the result.
