In the beginning, Prof. Ping-kong Alexander Wai (衛炳江教授) (Chairman of organization committee) gave a welcome speech
Ir. Cammy S.K. Chan, JP (President of HKAAST) gave an opening speech. She said HKAAST had been a synthesis of professionals, academics, industrialists and commerce experts getting together to have synergy effect supporting Hong Kong and the Mainland for the goal of “Building Hong Kong by Science and Technology” (科技建港) and “Building a powerful country by Science and Technology” (科技興國).
Ir. Dr. Aaron Tong (President of GATE) gave an opening speech. He briefed the goal of GATE to enhance the cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong through establishing different technology clusters. It aimed to combine technology and industry in Pearl River Delta region so as to upgrade existing industries in Guangdong and Hong Kong.
After that Mr. Nicholas W. Yang (Advisor to the Chief Executive on Innovation and Technology, and Non-official Member of the Executive Council (ExCo), HKSAR Government) gave guest speech. He believed Innovation and Technology to be one of pillars to lead Hong Kong industry upgrade and bring a new economic. He welcome to receive different opinions on enhancing Hong Kong policy on Innovation and Technology.
The next session was presentation of committee certificates.
Mr. Nicholas W. Yang presented the certificate to Dr. Aaron Tong.
Mr. Godfrey Leung King-kwok (Under Secretary of Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR) presented the certificate to Dr. Wai-kwok LO (Legislative Councilor representing the Engineering Functional Constituency).
Mr. Godfrey Leung King-kwok presented the certificate to Dr. Samson Tam (Former Legislative Councilor representing the Information Technology Functional Constituency).

Then participated students of the Science & Technology Seeding 100 Plan shared their experience.
The ceremony used real fire and then showed the change from “Virtue & HKAAST” (善德。科協) to “Care & Research” (關愛。科研).
After that Dr. Aaron introduced me to Mr. Nicholas W. Yang. I briefed the history of HKSQ and proposed that we would prepare a report through surveying our members’ opinions about Innovation and Technology Bureau (ITB). We had prepared similar report named “HKSQ's suggestions to the testing & certification industry” to assist the formation of Hong Kong Certification and Testing Council (HKCTC) in 2010.
