Visit to YUNNAN (雲南) & DALI (大理) - DAY 1

After the HKSQ study mission to visit KUNMING Pharmaceutical Corp. (昆明制药集团股份有限公司) and YUNNAN University (雲南大学) from 24 to 27 June 2010, we stayed behind to visit Dali (大理) & Nujing (麗江).

We left the station of Kunming (昆明) through rental minibus on 28 June 2010.


Many temples were observed by the way to Dali.

We had lunch in Golden Flower Restaurants (金花飯店). In here, all girls would be called “Golden Flower (金花)” because they were ethnic minorities called White (白族).


Eight dishes and soap cost HK$80. (Very economic)


We arrived to Dali.


Many people were swimming in the Erhai Lake (洱海) (also called Lake of Mother (母親湖)).

Fired small fish cost HK$1.


We arrived the hotel (亞星大飯店).


A large picture of Guanyin (觀音) in the hall. Guanyin (觀音) is a Bodhisattva (菩薩). According to the guide, the hierarchy should be shown as follow:
Buddha (佛)
Bodhisattva (菩薩)
Rohan (羅漢)
King Kong (金剛)


Then we went to Dali Old Town (大理古城).



Golden Solder


We went up to Wuhua Building (五華樓) and saw the whole picture of the old town.


Chongeheng Temple’s Three Pagodas Park (崇聖寺三塔) was observed.


Many Temples were around the old town.


Many solar water boilers were observed in Dali.


Hawker sold for special food called “Yunnan 18 Strange (雲南十八怪)”

Then we went through the “Foreigners’ Street”.

Eight Immortals Crossing The Sea (八仙過海)


We were very tired after walking around the old town and then we had dinner in Xinghua Village Inn (杏花村酒家).


The Utensils were sterilized and sealed before use.


We found Dali Palace (大理王府).


Marshl Temple (武庙) was met.


When we left, the light of town wall turned on.
