The Evolution of Quality Professional

Quality professionals are still alive only those who change into something that is required will be in demand (Stratton, 1996). The history of quality evolution directly affects the role of quality professionals. The quality professional has evolved through eras of quality control (craftsmen, inspectors) to statistical control (quality scientists), to performance-based methods (quality engineers), to Japanese quality methods (quality circle and team), to total quality management (quality practitioners), to organizational empowerment (quality consultants), to management system standards and business excellence (quality consultants/advisors, and six sigma master black belt, black belt and green belt), and so on. Recently, lean manufacturing and six sigma combine to be the most hot topic "Lean Six Sigma"!
